Boaters Marine Supply

Boat anchor, anchor rope, and anchor chain from Fortress, Maxwell, and Plastimo, for your boat anchor needs. Dont forget that your anchoring success depends on the correct boat anchor & rope scope, or length of rope and chain you use. An average ratio of rode is 7 to 1, so 70 feet from windlass or cleat to the bottom would require 490 feet of rode. A scope, or the length, varies from 4/1 to 10/1 depending on the size of your boat and the bottom terrain, tidal conditions etc. For additional details on anchoring you can refer to: the "Chapman Piloting, Seamanship and Small Boat Handling" manual, US Power Squadron, or US Coast Guard Auxiliary.
