discount Boat Anchors, Boat Anchor Rope, Anchor Winches, Windlass

Boaters Marine Supply carries Marine-Boat Anchors, Boat Anchor Rope-Chain, Anchor Winches and Windlass for small boats to large yachts. When shopping for an anchor be sure to include the rope and chain (rode), so that you can properly attach your anchor to your boat. The anchor rode consists of (preferably) a length of chain (5 or more feet long) and nylon rope.

Nylon rope is flexible allowing for some elasticity to the rope with no fiber breakage.  The chain attaches to the boat anchor (with the use of a clevis devise) to prevent chafing and adds weight to help give your anchor a vertical grab on the bottom. The anchor rope is attached to the chain (with another clevis devise) and ultimately attached to the cleat (or windless) of your boat. Remember to always use the correct (rode) scope of rope and chain for success in anchoring. A typical ratio of rode is 7 to 1, (can vary) so 70 feet from windless or cleat to the bottom would require 490 feet of rode.  Rode’s and scope can vary depending on the vessel size, bottom terrain, tidal conditions etc.  For a more detailed education in anchoring there are numerous reference sources such as the "Chapman Piloting, Seamanship and Small Boat Handling" manual as well as the US Power Squadron and US Coast Guard Auxiliary.
